Gaston received his A.B. in 1923 and his B.M. in 1936, both from Sterling. He received his A.M. in 1938 and his Ph.D. in 1940, both from KU. He joined the faculty as an Assistant Professor of Public School Music in 1940. He reached full Professor status in 1947 and died in 1970. From the guide to the Personal Papers of E.
